About - Exhibit A | London Window Gallery

WHAT WE ARE
Exhibit A London is a window showcasing art and design that is curated by guest artists, designers, antique dealers and architects. It is a rotating display that is always open to the public, inviting people passing by to discover the beauty, cleverness, or absurdity of the scenes within the frame.

HOW WE WORK
Connecting guest curators directly with the consumer, Exhibit A London is a unique platform through which viewers can explore the artists and artwork featured within the window and purchase online. The window can also be used as a platform for charitable causes to raise awareness at the street level.

OUR INTENTION
Exhibit A London strives to take the time to create meaningful content that benefits both the artists and their associated causes. The concept of Exhibit A stems from a long history of artists featured in and creating windows, including notable collaborations from Maurice Sendak, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol. Famously (or infamously) in 1938, for a Bonwit Teller window, Salvador Dali installed a Persian lamb-lined bath tub filled with water and a blood-stained mannequin wearing coq feathers. The shock and excitement of the scene caused crowds to gather and return in anticipation of the next display. The creation of exciting, tightly-curated displays within one framework will make us stand out as the exception and an example in a world filled with vast, ever-multiplying art fairs, trade fairs, mega stores and a crowded online marketplace.

Lee Wheeler
Founder

"Old enough to relish nostalgia / young enough to seek originality"

Lee Wheeler has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in Interior Design in both residential and hotel projects in the USA and Europe. Always happier behind the scenes, she prefers results rather than accolades.  Her new concept combines originality utilising a web-based platform (and AR addition) with an old-school window shopping experience.

Raised in Bedford, New York and educated in the USA, Lee began her career at Sotheby's in New York City before moving to London in the 80's to start her own design company, Lee Wheeler Interiors. She brings her extensive professional experience and a career of art and design relationships to the launch of Exhibit A.

Alexandra Vickers
Associate Director, London

Alexandra joins Exhibit A after several years working in events and marketing at fashion and lifestyle magazine BlackBook Magazine, and nonprofit Operation Smile. She holds a BA from SMU in Texas, where she majored in Journalism and French Literature.

Alex spent her youth between Colorado and France, developing her passion for travel, art, and design. When time would allow, Alex assisted her mother in furniture sourcing and architectural design for her interior design company, Vickers Design and Antiques. This gave Alex the opportunity to decorate several homes for friends in New York City and Colorado, as well as redecorate a family flat in Paris. Now having graduated from the certificate program at London’s KLC School of Design, Alex’s experience in marketing and interior design will be an important contribution to Exhibit A's expanding global art platform.
