Emma's Kitchen Longleat
Hand painted original Chinese wallpaper appears at Longleat House as part of the magnificent interiors. At the time of installation, ‘it was associated with the grandeur and continuity of Chinese civilisation, while at the same time epitomising the perceived frivolity of feminine taste. It was – and is – an extraordinarily successful and long-lasting product’, as Emile de Bruijn, Andrew Bush and Helen Clifford point out in an essay on Chinese Wallpapers in Stately Homes.
Emma Weymouth designed this tea set in 2014, and it is part of a range of products in Emma’s Kitchen - all of which in some way reference the immense cooking archive, spanning back to 1580 when the house was built.
